Newsflash! Bob's in Rehab!

Yes! It's finally happened! Bob was moved to Loma Linda University Rehabilitation, Orthopaedic, & Neurosciences Institute.
The address is:
Loma Linda University Medical Center East Campus Hospital 25333 Barton Road Loma Linda, CA 92354
Here's an excerpt from the admissions booklet:
"Each two bed suite has french doors that lead out onto an individual healing garden patio planted with multi colored flowers, green climbing vines and colorful shrubbery. Each patio has a teak table and chair set for visiting with family or just enjoying a beautiful California day."

Although he has a phone, he can't talk yet. I don't think he's quite up to visitors just yet. Let me figure out how the rehab schedule works and we'll let y'all know.

Oh yes, and the food is the best part. In case you didn't know, Loma Linda is a 7th Day Adventist facility which means no meat. So The Bob is now a vegetarian. Yesterday he had beef-like puree. Yes. And crushed, fermented grapes do not count on the fruits and vegetable list.

Welcome to Rehab, Bob.

Oh, and this is a picture of Bob BS (Before Stroke). Most of you know that Bob's allergic to dogs, but Josh's dog, Izzie, doesn't care and Bob lets this one sleep on his chest). She hasn't been trained or certified but we're going to put a working dog jacket on her (you know, stroke-sensitive dog). HA!

Warmly,
Sharon

  2. Hi Pal,
I think about you multiple times a day now, Bob. I try to say a prayer for you each time. I'm glad that you are out of the hospital now, as I know that is the last place that anyone can get any decent rest. Enjoy your sunny California garden patio (I'm jealous since it is 45 degrees here in cloudy Central New York). You'd better rest up because Sharon is getting ready to lead you down the road to recovery, and you know what a slave driver she is. Ha! Just kidding. We love you...

    Always,
    Amanda (Jim and Nathan too)

  3. Dear Pam and Manda,
Thanks for your messages. Sonz is printing everything so that we have a scrapbook WHEN HE'S WALKING and talking again! Now you know that he'd rather be having drinks with little umbrellas with y'all (I think he thought of them as part of the fruit/vegetable group). So keep those prayers and good thoughts coming his way. Am on my way to rehab now. Love you, Sharon

  4. Wow Bob, your room sounds great. You know, Loma Linda is the only Blue Zone in the US & the expert says the 7th Day Adventist diet contributes to it! Sharon, please thank Josh for providing a way to receive updates and for a path to send thoughts and prayers of hope to both of you. You two are in my thoughts each day and I look forward to reading about Bob's road to recovery. I realize you have a great support system there but know that daily prayers are coming from my side of the world. Stay strong, love strong and give Bob a hug from me. { } (that's a virtual hug) ~Audrey

  6. Well, Bob, are you trying to outdo the leukemia lady?? If so, this is a bit extreme, FYI. Seriously, Van and I send healing thoughts to you and I'm so glad to once again be connected! I will always remember your compassion when you took me to lunch after hearing of my diagnosis. Unity is strength! Keep on keepin' on, Bob. You have a lot of people sending good karma your way.

    Hi Sharon!

  7. Hi Bob and Sharon. Thank you for sending updates! I have a lot of church family working at Loma Linda -- they'll take good care of you. Knowing first-hand the Adventist diet, you'll be surprised how much you'll miss it when you don't have to eat it anymore :).

  10. Bob and Sharon,
Howdy from the country of Texas! It seems like yesterday that y'all were visiting and enjoying Rudy's famous Bar-B-Q! We are following your progress, cheering you on in our thoughts, and remembering you daily in our prayers. We know you are in good hands, partly because of Loma Linda's reputation, but mostly because Sharon won't hang with slackers! Don't even think about saying anything but "YES, I Can!" Now that we have your address, look for a few things in the mail.
    We love you both,
    Barry and Leslie

  13. Bob & Sharon,
It's so encouraging to read about your progress every day and to send our prayers and good wishes along with so many others that are coming your way. We're not having the LV party this year, but next year we expect to see you both walking in with Sonia & Jeff & Pete & Judy to the tunes of Margaritaville. Can't wait! With Sharon as your taskmaster, you have no choice but to get better soon. We're praying for you daily, as are so many of your friends from DBHS. With love, Susan & Danny

  15. Dear Bob and Sharon,

Thank you for setting up the blog and sharing the up-dates on Bob.

I am sitting in here Tokyo and google-viewed the hospital Bob stays
and typing comments. 5,000mile distance is far but not with the online
over the internet as like our thoughts are there even apart.

It may take some time but we believe his full recovery. Please find the way to ease you as well.

We will keep visiting the site.
    Thank you.

  17. Hi Bob,
Although we haven't been in touch since you left Diamond Bar, I think of you when I remember my first year as a Brahma. You were always so kind and encouraging to me. I was so sorry to hear of your stroke and will be praying for a quick and complete recovery.

  18. Hi Bob,
Hey Kiddo, I have been thinking about a lot. I know you are working hard and this is a tought time. Feel the arms of Jesus around you and the blessing of his peace.
